26th Annual Golf Classic Makes Melanie’s Dream Come True
Volunteers from the All-Volunteer Cape Atlantic Chapter of the Sunshine Foundation held their 26th Annual Sunshine Golf Classic on Monday, September 13th at the Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point, NJ.
Money raised will answer the dream of Melanie and other children. Melanie is diagnosed with myelomeningocele, bilateral hip dysplasia, and bilateral club feet. Melanie was born paralyzed from the waist down and has brittle bones on her lower right leg. She cannot move her lower body or feet. Melanie also has neurogenic bladder and bowel as a result of her condition and uses a wheelchair to get around. Melanie has a speech delay as well as vision problems because of fluid that collects on her brain. Melanie has been waiting for her Dream trip to Walt Disney World. She loves Disney characters and dolls, and she loves singing Disney songs.
The tournament was founded in 1995 by volunteers from the All-Volunteer Cape Atlantic Chapter of the Sunshine Foundation. In its 26-year existence, the tournament alone has sent almost 100 children and their families to Disney World, SeaWorld, Universal Studios, LEGOLAND Florida, and the Sunshine Foundation Dream Village in Central Florida over the years.
Thank you to Donald B. Kravitz for photographing the event!
