Bike-A-Thon Makes Nathan’s Dream Come True
Volunteers from the All-Volunteer Joan Jake Miller Memorial Chapter of the Sunshine Foundation and Library IV hosted their 17th Annual Bike-A-Thon to benefit the Sunshine Foundation on Sunday, September 12th.
The Bike-A-Thon was founded in 2003 by volunteers from the All-Volunteer Joan Jake Miller Memorial Chapter of the Sunshine Foundation and Library IV. In its 17-year existence, the Bike-A-Thon alone has sent many children and their families to Disney World, SeaWorld, Universal Studios, LEGOLAND Florida, and the Dream Village in Central Florida over the years. Sunshine Foundation also answers Special Dreams like shopping sprees, computers and iPads, meeting celebrities, above-ground swimming pools, family trips, adaptive tricycles, and other special needs equipment.
Money raised from this event will help answer Nathan’s Dream. Nathan is 12 years old, diagnosed with severe hemophilia. Nathan loves his family and playing baseball He wants to be a baseball player when he grows up. Nathan’s dream is to visit Walt Disney World with his family. Nathan said “Dreams are important. I like to think I’m no different than any other kid, but I try to be more careful when I’m with my friends.”
